The Lucky Number is 15!

It was a great and revealing day today as everyone who is making application to major in graphic design showed up before 5pm to submit their portfolios. I was so happy to see the 15 of you from my class who showed up confident and with some beautiful portfolio cases and work. I couldn't have been more proud!  We had 40 applicants this year.

(I have put up some of the pics I took after you left. I think I'm missing several due to my camera battery dying on me. I'll put the others up later today.)

BTW, Just to put rumors at rest, I am not retiring. Who me? Never! Who the heck started that rumor anyway? Ironically, I was offered a job last week to join the faculty at Young Harris College this fall to build a graphic design program. It's my old alma mater and a place that I adore. I would be lying if I didn't say that it was a dream of mine to return to that college and teach one day.  That day came and I'll forever be appreciative I was offered the position at YHC. However, I want to remain at GSU because I know great things are ahead for all of us.  Jeff Boortz, the motion designer who interviewed recently for the new tenure track position (fulltime) in our department was offered and has accepted the position and will start in the fall. He will be a great addition to our faculty.
Jason Snape is also set to be teaching again in our department as an Adjunct Faculty member next year.  We are set for an incredible year ahead.

I want to wish each of you the best in this leap of faith into your chosen field. Whatever happens just know you gave it your very best. I'm proud of the work you created and am lucky to be a part of your academic experience. Have faith.
